Kwara RAAMP formally inaugurates Steering committee. Charges members to be committed and upright.
Members of the State Project Monitoring Committee for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) Kwara state have been urged to justify the trust reposed in them by diligently discharging their duties of overseeing the activities of the Project in the state, in order to achieve the expected goal of Governor Abdulraman Abdulrasaq's led administration.
The Honourable Commissioner, kwara state Ministry of Works, Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu stated this during the formal inauguration of the State Project Monitoring Committee SPMC for the Kwara State RAAMP held at the Ministry of Works conference room.
The Honourable Commissioner who formally inaugurated the RAAMP SPMC members also thanked the Executive Governor, Mallam Abdulraman Abdulrasaq for the timely release of Counterpart Fund for the take off of the Project in the State.
In his welcome address, the RAAMP State Project Coordinator, Engineer Akorede Agboola Abdulwahab described RAAMP as a Project, Co-financed by the World Bank, and which aims at improving Rural access and Trading infrastructure in the participating States. Adding that the Project which was formally declared effective on March 16 2021 is a six- year program.
Engr. Akorede, who appreciated Governor Abdulraman Abdulrasaq for his efforts and supports geared towards taking kwara to the promise land, also said that 13 States are currently participating in the RAAMP project across the country. The States are Kwara, Kebbi, Kastina, Sokoto, Kano, Abia, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Akwa-Ibom, Kogi, Bauchi and Plateau. Meanwhile, six additional States according to the Project Coordinator, have been admitted to the fold. The Project will rehabilitate 450km Spot Improvement road, 225km Rehabilitation/ Backlog maintenance road, yearly Routine Maintenance of 700km roads,5 Construction of 80-100m Cross Drainage across the State.
However, the composition of the SPMC is based on RAAMP's selection of Stakeholders and drawn from the relevant Ministries and Association. The Committee members are TPL Olorukooba Isiaka Yinka, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of works as the chairman, Mr. Abdulrahman Akindele Ayuba representing a Non - Governmental Organization, Mr. Oladipo Samuel representing the Ministry of Planning, Mr. Balogun Bashirat A. from the ministry of Finance, Mr. Saadu Moshood Magaji from the Ministry of local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Others are Mr. Alhassan Muazu representing the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar Baba from the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Ajeje Oluwaseyi Bamidele from Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Adedotun Olawumi Taiwo from the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Gbenga Rasheed Moyosore Esq from the Ministry of Justice while the Secretary of the Committee also doubles as the State Project Coordinator for RAAMP, Engr. Akorede Abdulwahab Agboola.
In his response, Mr. Ajeje Oluwaseyi Bamidele who spoke on behalf of the Committee, thanked the Government of Kwara State for its efforts in supporting RAAMP Project in the State. He also pledged the commitment of the Committee to justify the trust reposed in them by working in line with the set rules to ensure the success of the Project to make kwara a good example for others to learn.
The event featured formal inauguration of the Committee, signing of oath of allegiance by the SPMC members. Formal introduction of the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) to the State Project Monitoring Committee (SPMC) and others were done.
