Bid opening: RAAMP sets for opening of more rural roads: As RAAMP PC commend Gov. AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq's tamely intervention.
The Kwara State Government, through its partnership with the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) said it would continue to adopt open and transparent process in fast tracking even distribution of dividends of democracy to all nooks and crannies of the state.
The State RAAMP Project Coordinator, Engr. Dr. Isaac Kolo states this in Ilorin during the second phase of Bid opening for the Procurement of Works for Backlog Maintenance /Rehabilitation of 2 Rural Roads of 45.315KM (LOT 1-2) and construction of Cross Drainage Structures of 57 numbers Bridges /Culverts and Spot Improvement of three (3) rural roads of 59.794KM in Kwara State (LOT 1- 3) under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) as the bid opening was in preparation for the commencement of the rural road rehabilitation, construction and upgrading across the three Senatorial Districts in the state.
The exercise covered the backlog maintenance/rehabilitation of 66.5 kilometers and upgrading of 18.2 kilometers of rural roads in the state as another stage in the implementation process of RAAMP project in Kwara.
However, it is no longer news that the RAAMP has come to stay in Kwara as there are palpable proofs and strong indications that indeed, RAAMP is firm, deeply-rooted and eminently prepared to contribute its quota for the continued growth and advancement of not only Kwara, but other RAAMP participating states too.
Engr. Kolo said the present administration of Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq was very committed to opening rural communities for development through the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads and provision of other social amenities, stressing the need for communities across the 16 local government areas of the state to see and embrace RAAMP project as a project presenting ample of opportunities to them, specifically on how they can also contribute to the enhancement of mankind through their supports and other ways of commitments to encourage government to do more.
According to him, in addition to direct gains by the host communities, the Project Coordinator added that following the local content policy, the hinterlands would definitely experience a wide-range boom in economic activities, for which the envisaged benefits are hinged on the improved conditions of the roads after intervention, in addition to jobs creations, particularly to women and youths, which the project would stimulate, among other sundry advantages.
He further commended all firms owners for meeting up with the closing date for the bid, assuring them of a transparent process devoid of robbing 'Peter to pay Paul' as doing that he noted, would guide the project and it's officials to further justify the trust reposed in them.
Recall that on Monday 8th January 2024, Kwara RAAMP advertised in two national dailies, the construction of Backlog Maintenance/Rehabilitation of 66.5 kilometers and Upgrading of 18.2 kilometers of rural roads for interested and qualified bidders to apply in line with the laid down guidelines and standards of the World Bank.
The State RAAMP Project Coordinator in the same measure, urged the bidders to pay maximum attention to the bidding process which would be opened and transparent. Added that Kwara RAAMP SPIU would justify the trust reposed in them under his leadership from the beginning to the end of the evaluation process which according to him would be fair to all.
Dr. Kolo again, urged the people of the state to reciprocate the kind gesture of the Kwara State government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq CON and Chairman Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), by creating an enabling environment through meaningful partnership with developmental agencies to bring development to the rural dwellers and the State at large.
He noted that RAAMP was formally declared effective on March 16 2021 and it is a six- year programme co-financed by the World Bank with the aim of improving Rural Access and Trading Infrastructure in the participating states and had since received a counterpart fund payment of six hundred million naira from the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq.
Describing the State Governor as a focused and determined leader who gets things done for the betterment of Kwarans without being distracted, called on Kwarans, both at home and in the diaspora to key into the vision of the Governor which is set to do more to further put Kwara in the forefront where it belongs.
Meanwhile, positive developments and the smooth pace at which Kwara RAAMP is moving towards the final implementation of the main civil work is so because, it is no more a hidden fact, that Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq led administration has posited to do much more to reach the hinterland and banish poverty to the barest minimum amongst the people of the state through opening of more access roads and upgrading of three markets to a global standards in the State.
That, of course, is one, among other major reasons that accounted for why the Governor have always been described as a man piloting a focused, friendly and results driven government, especially for paying more attention on bringing life to the system through sustainable partnerships with developmental agencies across all stratas.
The event was well attended by relevant stakeholders such as members of the State Project Management Committee (SPMC), starting from Mr. Ajeje Bamidele, Mallam Alhassan Muazu, Mrs. Adedotun Taiwo, Mallam Ibrahim Barka, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar Muhammed, Mrs. Balogun Bashirat and Mr. Abdulraman Ayuba.
Others are the pioneer Kwara RAAMP Project Coordinator, Engr. Akorede Abdulwahab Agboola, consultants such as Ette Aro and Partners, McGeorge Consultancy Ltd, General Manager, Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (PPA), ably represented by Mrs. Najaatu Muhammed, bidders from different firms, Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State Council, Comrade Abdulateef Lanre Ahmed, Chairman, Al. Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Hon. Umar Mahamud Aboki ably represented by Engr. Afolayan Funsho.
In attendance we also have the former General Manager KWAMA Engr, Baba Usman Jubril, retired Director Civil in the Kwara State Ministry of Works, Engr, Biliaminu Folorunsho, the Head of PFMU Alhaji Issa Bolakale Yusuf, representatives of Road Transport Empolyee Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) of the Kwara RAAMP, representatives of Civil Society Organizations among others.
The programme also featured, observations, commendations from bidders, opening of submitted bidding documents in the presence of all as it was also done in a most modest and transparent manner.
