Consolidation 2024: Re-elect Abdulateef Lanre Ahmed as Kwara NUJ Chairman.

In July 2021, exactly three years ago, I did a piece titled "From the ALA Campaign Director General's Desk" then in my capacity as the Campaign Director General for Abdulateef Lanre Ahmed's Chairmanship ambition. With our then team named the 'Salvation Team', today, especially now that I have accepted the responsibility to lead same campaign team from the front, I wish to reproduce the said piece as it speaks directly to what is at hand currently, given that three years down the line, we are back to approach the ballot again come Saturday, July 13th 2024. 

Interested readers might wish to find below what I wrote three years ago in respect of NUJ Kwara State Council elections at the time as placed on my facebook page.

FROM THE A.L.A CAMPAIGN DIRECTOR GENERAL'S DESK

"Today, I received with appreciation and deep sense of humility, my nomination to serve as the Salvation Team Campaign Director General (DG) for the Abdulateef Lanre Ahmed's aspiration to become the next Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State Council.

As a mortal, I doubt if I have any power of my own to lead this formidable team of ours to the promise land, but as God liveth and with the support of like minds, men and women of goodwill who can rise up to be counted, I am quite sure we shall seamlessly get there.

Mind you, our campaigns and other engagements shall be devoid of blackmail, calumny, hatred, bigotry or pull him/her down syndrome. We shall be objective, matured and constructive in our outreaches and engagements, especially by unveiling our great plans that will be of direct impact to members of our great union irrespective of religious, political or other affiliations.

I therefore, want to strongly assure that I will humbly, actively and honestly work to justify the trust reposed in me in the new assignment bestowed on me. 

Together we can have a new beginning in Kwara NUJ. Together we can create a new and lasting history. Together we shall enjoy the new dawn that we have all been craving for in Kwara NUJ. A vote for Abdulateef Lanre Ahmed is a vote for transparency, accountability, honesty and all inclusiveness".

END NOTE:
Given the foregoing, any discern mind would agree with me that not much is needed to be said again as those strong messages and resolutions to embark on a modest campaign in the above piece still stand. The message this time around, I must say, God owns power, and gives it to whoever he wants. This is so because our relationship, as I strongly believe, transcends NUJ and it politics.

Recently, I felt more delighted as ever before, when the Kwara NUJ Council Chairman, Abdulateef Lanre Ahmed did mentioned openly that nobody should embark on campaign of calumny or try to pull anybody down on his behalf. This, I recalled he also said last term when we set out for our campaign. Lanre added that he wanted his emergence to be on merit and that was achieved. So, re-electing a person like that would move forward the union for the betterment of all. 

As it is, there is really no lengthy time for much campaign, but I am of the firm opinion that other aspirants could also talk to their supporters on the need to be civil and peaceful in their conducts before, during and after the poll for which, at the end, it is certain there wont be winner nor vanquish. 

On a final note, a vote for Abdulateef Lanre Ahmed is no doubt, a vote for transparency and accountability which he has been exhibiting over the years. For someone who has justified the trust reposed in him by all of us, I am cock sure sustaining these worthy and modest legacies would last long by putting him in charge again.

Gov AbdulRazaq: Restoring hope at grassroots through RAAMP
