Month of May: RC Ilorin GRA Harps on Unity among Rotarians to Build a better Society.

 By Rtn. Ishola Gbenga

Rotarians accross the world have been urged to always prioritize and identify with one another at all times to further strengthen the cord of friendship and unity among Rotarians in order to make Rotary a place for all, especially the youth.
An experienced and committed Rotarian, Assistant Governor (AG) Segun Balogun started this while speaking at the Rotary Club of Ilorin GRA's special fellowship to mark one of the activities set aside in the Rotary International calendar for the month of May tagged "The Synopsis of Messages of RI President & District Governor (District 9125) for the Month of May ".
According to AG Balogun, "If we serve our members, we serve our communities, and if we can meet people where they are and lift them up, they will imagine Rotary in a new light and come to fully understand our value and our infinite potential"
The guest speaker, who is also a legal luminary, took time to explain and narrow down the messages of the Rotary International President Jennifer Jones and that of the District Governor, Rotarian Goddy Nnadi to the understanding of everyone as it was noted that "When we talk about finding space for one another, creating comfort and care within Rotary. We're describing a club experience where we can all feel comfortable, empathize with and support one another. Whatever we are facing in life, Rotary is a place where we know we're not alone".
Going further, participants were were made to understand the fact that, we spend so much time helping our world, whether it's working to end polio, cleaning up the environment, or bringing hope to communities that need it most. Sometimes we can lose track of the need to apply some of our energy and care to our fellow members and partners in service.
The guest speaker therefore, urged Rotarians to keep seeing themselves as People of Action, adding that, behind that action is care, compassion, empathy, inclusion and we are to leads by example and straighten out things among ourselves whenever they go wrong.

However, the message as we mark the month of May as presented by Rotarian Segun Balogun was not only apt, but timely. It speaks volumes to the current situation we found ourselves as Rotarians, for which one is cocksure that participants left the venue with a a strong conviction that the comfort and care of our members, especially the youth whose month we are marking, is the single greatest driver of member satisfaction and retention. We need to ensure that it remains a priority and that we further strengthen these bonds by performing service that helps reduce the stigma of seeking out mental health treatment and expands access to care.
In her submission, the President RC Ilorin GRA, Rtn. Grace Olagunju also pointed out the significant of the month of May in the life of Rotary and Rotarians at large and she
Meanwhile, the event, which was organized by the May Team of Rotary Club of Ilorin GRA under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor (LP) Alabi Amuda was not only well attended, but featured questions, answers, contributions and presentation of Certificate of Appreciation to the guest speaker who did justice to the topic given to him.
AG Ayodeji Olagunju also making his contributions after the lecture.
Those present at the event include Past District Governor (PDG) Jumoke Bamigboye, Past Assistant Governors (PAGs), AGs, Past Presidents (PPs), visiting Rotarians from other sister clubs, virtual participants and guests.
Let's continue the conversation! Rotary is good.
