MY CAREER! MY DIRECTION IN LIFE

"If the foundation is faulty! What shall the righteous do?" Psalm 11:3

It is a known fact, that those grasses as always seen are no longer greener on the other side, hence the need to sit tight and brace up for what the future holds. Since the gloom and despondency is obvious in the air and even clearly around us, then the conversation on how to carefully navigate our future by choosing the right career in life must begin now. I mean the conversation should begin now.

The above preamble is part of my today's paper presentation at Government Day Secondary School Adeta, where I was at the instance of my brother Ayodeji Ismail, along others, invited as one of the Guest Speakers to give a talk on the topic "My Career My Direction in Life" with other professionals from different classifications where a Lawyer, Medical Doctor and others were invited too.

The thought provoking and very engaging session exposed a whole lots of the challenges been faced by some of us when it comes to choosing our careers in life. At the end of my presentation, it turned out be valuable in creating a better understanding on how to make a choice of career in life.

Careful of not unnecessarily raising hope, I was able to provoke a conversation that was robust and constructive on how not to commit any grave error when choosing a career in life simply because your career is your direction in life and you cannot afford to put it in jeopardy.

Worthy of mention is the fact that, before choosing the right career in life, you must learn about yourself, your values, interest, soft skills and aptitude. You can use self assessment tools, often called career tests to gather information about your traits and other abilities.

Details of my paper will be released today for readers to peruse but then, I am most grateful to the organizers of the event especially, my Egbon Ayodeji Ismail for the opportunity extended to me to share my thoughts on how to better guide and groom the upcoming generation in a society that has been witnessing failed promises as well as where the coast is not really clear to see what the future holds. Above all, I am convince the future is bright.
